Santa Cruz Therapist specializing in anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress. I provide online therapy and group therapy. I use cognitive behavioral therapy,as well as EMDR, Neuro-Linquistic Programming and Ericksonian Hypnosis.
When I was in college, I studied child development to try and understand the origins of anxiety, depression and stress.
The answers were always changing it seemed. It's nature. No, it's really nurture. No, it's both. Too little of this biochemical cocktail, not enough of that neurotransmitter, dysfunctional family setting, etc. etc.
After all I've seen done these past 10 years as a Santa Cruz Therapist one thing is crystal clear: the power to change lies in the here and now.
The most powerful work doesn't ask why, it asks what: what is happening for you now that you want to change; what would you like to be true about yourself now.
The two biggest influences on my career have been Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a book by the woman who discovered the opiate receptor, Candace Pert called "Molecules of Emotion."
CBT deals with how our thoughts create our feelings and our behaviors. It helps us become empowered around the way we perceive things and the way we respond to them. Now we have a model with which to understand how psychotherapy can have a direct impact on the function of serotonin and other neurotransmitters that also play a role in the way we think, feel and behave.
Candace Pert has been instrumental in helping understand the way the mind and the body, especially the immune system work together in a dynamic way. This dynamic allows us to prevent the outcome of being victims of circumstance. It gives us the power to change our lives for the better.
My role in your health is to help you bring your mind, body and spirit into optimal functioning. When you're ready to go, I'm here to help.
Warm Regards,
